What is an NFT? | Logical Metaverse

In simple terms, NFT is a digital asset which proves the ownership of a virtual collection which can be in the form of music, arts, images, videos, etc.

Many people have this misconception that NFTs and cryptocurrencies are same. But it’s not. Each NFT is unique and different from one another unlike cryptocurrency.

In order to create your own NFT profile picture there are some things that you need to have.

  1. Metamask wallet
  2. A Picture that you want to upload as an NFT
  3. An Open sea account.

There are 6 steps involve in setting your first NFT profile picture.

  • Choose a picture you want to use an NFT for profile picture
  • Pick a platform you want to convert your picture to NFT
  • Select a blockchain network
  • Convert your pic into NFT
  • Uploading that NFT in your profile picture.

1. Choose a picture you want to use an NFT for profile picture

Since you are going to upload this NFT picture on your Facebook and Instagram Profile, then, I assume that the picture would be mostly probably of you, right. If that’s the case then you can browse in your computer or phone and select a picture that you want to convert it into an NFT.

But in case if you choose another images that does not belong to you or haven’t created by you then make sure that it’s free from copyright. Else, you might be in trouble if someone sees this on your social media profile and sue you. This is your first step of How to Create my/your own NFT Profile Picture.

2 . Pick a platform you want to convert your picture to NFT

Now that you have picked your image that you want to convert it into NFT then, the next step to select a platform. There are many platforms now that offers you to convert any digital arts into an NFTs.

One of my favorites is OpenSea. It is an open marketplace for virtual items where one can buy and sell NFTs, crypto assets or any digital items. It is the largest platform for NFT trade in terms of volume and also in transaction value. It also provide a platform where you can create your own NFT and sell them.

So you can rest assured that it’s totally safe. However there are other popular platforms too such as Rarible. These two are the top in the NFT space. You can choose whichever platform you like. But I’d recommend for OpenSea.

You can go to OpenSea website by clicking here.

Once you open the website, connect to OpenSea with your Metamask wallet. In case you don’t have a Metamask wallet, I’ll share a video link at the bottom of the article for you so that you can set up your Metamask wallet step by step.

After connecting your wallet to Opensea, click on create on the top right corner.

Then tap on the blockchain and scroll down. You would see different blockchain network. Then select polygon network to store your NFT.

Polygon is one of the most trusted blockchain network as it is scalable as well as cost effective unlike Ethereum which has high gas fees. But with polygon you can create your NFT for Free.

4. Convert your pic into NFT

This is the last step for making your NFT. After you fill up everything, click on the create button. Make sure that you have followed exactly all the steps and have input correct information, because, once you create it, you won’t be able to go back and change it. So it’s very important to always recheck before you create it.

After checking everything, click on Create. Then a pop up window will appear on your screen from Metamask asking permission to create your NFT. Then click on accept and you are done.

5. Uploading that NFT in your profile picture.

So the final stage of How to Create my/your own NFT Profile Picture. This step would require you  to upload your NFT that you have just created on your Instagram, Facebook or twitter profile picture.

Congrats. You now have a NFT profile picture which you can put it on your social media handle.

Besides putting an NFT on your profile picture, you can also mint (create) NFT and sell on marketplace. There are many people who have made fortune selling NFTs and living their life out.

But as mentioned earlier, make sure that the digital item is unique and does not have a copyright. Best would be, if you can create something from scratch (it could be anything from music to images to videos) and use your own imagination and creativity.

NFTs are going to be huge and it’s full potential is yet to be explored.
